JEONBUK NATIONAL UNIVERSITY
Department of Korean language & Literature of Chonbuk National University was initially originated from department of Korean language & Korean Literature in classical Chinese in Myeongryun academy (Oriental Morals academy) in Jeonju which was certified on Aug 1st, 1948.. Department of Korean language & Korean Literature in classical Chinese was renamed as department of Korean Literature of Myeongryun University on Apr 13th, 1950 and became department of Korean language & Literature which was one of the 6 departments in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences upon the establishment of Chonbuk National University in 1951.
On Oct 15th, 1954, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences moved into new school building in Deokjin-dong from the guest house in Jungang-dong, Jeonju-si and so did the department of Korean language & Literature. The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences was renamed as Liberal Arts College on Dec 5th in 1982.
Upon the establishment of Chonbuk National University, professor Byeongki, Lee and Inseung, Jeong who were widely-known and respected in Korean literature field and Korean language field were in service. Thus, Department of Korean language & Literature of Chonbuk National University can boast a long and honorable history as its solid foundation was established by professor Byeongki, Lee and Inseung, Jeong. In addition, department of Korean language & Literature has produced many talented people including almost 60 professors and scholars working at different universities and research institutes as well as many more people actively working in secondary education industry, media industry and literary industry.
